An Introduction to Me... A Tinkle!

 Hello all!

(Image Information: Personal photo of me)

My name is Natalie Tinkle, you can call me Tink if you'd like, or just feel free to giggle a bit at my amazingly awesome last name, I promise I won't be offended! Growing up with a quirky last name you learn how to roll with the punches and laugh a little too! With the last name jokes and giggling all out of the way, we can move on to the good stuff!

I'm a senior public relations major, with a dream of working as a professional event planner. I'm currently a certified wedding planner and do that full time, but I want to move on to bigger and more extravagant things after graduation! I would absolutely love to work behind the scenes of a popular TV show like the Bachelor or Love Island and plan all the stuff they do, or work for a major event planning company like Wonderland

One thing I think you should know about me is I'm the biggest nerd! I have a huge love for all things sci-fi, fantasy, futuristic, and historical! When I say I'm obsessed with all things Harry Potter, Marvel, and DC I'm not joking in the slightest, feel free to quiz me anytime! I've always been a lover of books (Barnes and Noble is one of my favorite places ever) and I actually hope to write my own books one day! Currently, my favorite book (and I've read it over a dozen times...) is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Everything about this book amazes me! The book is one million times better than the movie and I was so upset with how badly Spielberg messed it up that I've even considered writing him a strongly worded letter. If you ever want to talk about the Marvel universe, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, or how bad the final season of Game of Thrones was, I'm free anytime!

Another thing I absolutely love is podcasts! I mostly listen to true crime podcasts and some of my favorites are Morbid, Crime Junkie, and Crime Countdown! A few others I can't stop listening to are Supernatural, Scared to Death, Potterless, and Very Presidential. I think they're so fascinating and have been hooked ever since I discovered them last year.

Last but not least, here are a few fast facts to end this lengthy introduction of me. I can't go a day without making my bed, I'm a six wing seven on the enneagram, I'm a proud Hufflepuff, a lover of coffee, I own way too many coffee mugs, I love meeting new people, I love goofy graphic tee shirts from Walmart, and my dream vacation would be to go to Ireland, Scotland, and Iceland!

Thanks for reading a little bit about me!

  1. Hi Natalie!

I love your last name, it's so cute! It reminds me of Tinkerbell! Also, I love how your blog is set up: it's so pretty and organized!

So I like to read, but haven't since college because of obvious reasons, but I haven't actually got around to reading Ready Player One. Now I feel like I am really missing out! I guess I will have to give it a try.

I can already tell by the way you write that you are super energetic and outgoing and I love it! I can't wait to read more of your posts in the future!

  2. Hi Tink,

We're going to get along VERY well. I'm a Hufflepuff married to a Ravenclaw. We have Hufflepuff and Slytherin kids (although the Slytherin denies her House, she's TOTALLY what the Slytherins would be like if Tom Riddle didn't get them mixed up in all that "pure blood" mess). I'm embarrassed to say that I still haven't read Ready, Player One. It's on my shelf! It just keeps getting bumped down by Orson Scott Card, SM Reine, or Rick Riordan Presents books.

I'm a huge Enderverse nerd. I knew I wouldn't be happy with the Ender's Game movie because they just wouldn't be able to portray Ender at the age range he was during battle school, and they couldn't encompass the amount of time that passed in the book's story line in a 2-3 hour movie. I liked the movie anyway. I think they did a good job of showing how Colonel Graff manipulated the odds to constantly be against Ender.

I love crime podcasts, too. My favorites are My Favorite Murder, Murder Squad (Hot for Holes!), and Wine and Crime.

    Thanks for sharing!

  3. Hey Natalie! While I was reading your introduction, I just kept saying "I do that" ten times over. I went to Orlando Studios for Christmas this year and had such a hard time going anywhere else except the Harry Potter worlds; they were so insanely accurate and fascinating, it felt like the movie was based on a real place! As far as podcasts go, my absolute favorite I've ever heard is Doctor Death. It's one of the most twisted crimes I've ever heard of, so I highly recommend giving it a listen. And I love that you are a supporter of the enneagram test! I'm a 2w3, and a handful of my best friends are 6w7s, so makes sense we have similar interests!

  4. Hi Natalie!

It's so awesome that you've considered writing your own book one day because I've had the same thought before! I would love to become an author someday but I never take the time to actually sit down and write. Thank you so much for the book recommendation, I'm always looking for those and I especially love when someone has very high praise for one so I'll check out Ready Player One soon.

As to your love of Harry Potter, have you taken the Pottermore tests and, if so, what was your house and patronus? My house is Gryffindor and my patronus is a bat.

It's so interesting that you are into podcasts too because I literally just listened to my first one on the way home yesterday. It was a horror podcast, it freaked me out, and I loved it! I will definitely have to give your suggestions a try because I think I've found a new love in my life.

Anyways, have a great day Natalie!

    1. Hi Riley! Thank for the awesome comment! I have taken the Pottermore tests multiple times and I'm always a Hufflepuff and my patronus is an otter!(like Hermione!)

  5. Hi Natalie!

Man, it seems like every account I comment on is another senior, which just makes me feel even older myself. Anyways, I'm glad you mentioned how bad the last season of Game of Thrones was. I almost forgot about it until you had mentioned it just now (honestly, I think this is just my brain's way of saying that season never existed.) You MUST be so excited about the new spin-off serious that's coming soon, I know I am!

Also, I would also like to say I really like your blog layout! It's very simplistic and easy to maneuver!

  6. Hi Natalie,

To start off I think your blog looks amazing, you definitely added you own touch with is awesome. Your event planning job sounds busy, but yet very exciting. I am sure you get to work on some super cool projects and change peoples lives for the better on their big day. Your love for super heroes is awesome, maybe you can find a way to incorporate that into some of your blogs throughout the semester. I look forward to reading your blogs throughout the semester and wish you the best through these crazy times.

  7. Three cheers for nerds, Natalie! One of the things I really like about teaching these classes is giving everybody (including me!) a space in which to embrace their inner nerd. And it would be even more cool if some of the writing that you did in this class can be the start of something you want to publish as a book later on. I'm hoping maybe people in class this semester will want to publish a book of microfiction together; I learned all about self-publishing with Pressbooks this summer, along with putting the books at Amazon as Kindle and also paperbacks: it was such a great self-publishing adventure, and I'm glad to share what I've learned by helping us make a book together as a class. You could also learn about SoundCloud in this class, which is a super-easy to use podcast platform, and you can also use it for embedding audio in blog posts. So, if you are ready to nerd out like that, I am glad to join in and help! :-)

  8. Hi Natalie! I am a HufflePuff too! You seem super fun and outgoing. That is so cool that you are a certified wedding planner! I could only imagine how stressful that must be but also how rewarding it is to help people on one of the best days of their life. I am Pakistani, and the weddings are like many days long. I wonder if you have ever planned a Pakistani/Indian wedding. I love anything sci-fi, fantasy, futuristic, and historical too :)

  9. Hi Natalie! First of all, I love your blog. The set up looks very sleek and professional - totally makes sense that you are a PR major. I'm a big MCU and Harry Potter fan as well! Personally I enjoyed the ending of Endgame, even though I know it was controversial with the fans. I'm currently watching GOT but I haven't gotten to the last season yet...I'm sure it's as bad as you say, though. I'm also a senior this year - it's so surreal that this is our last year, and that it's currently so different than expected. I hope you have a great senior year though and make the most of it despite covid!

  10. Hi, Natalie!

I'm so happy to hear that you love Ready Player One so much. It's one of my favorites as well. While it's not the world's greatest story, it is just so much fun to read and be immersed in this world full of all the nerd and pop culture stuff I love. The Spielberg movie wasn't great. To be fair, I don't think most of the source material would translate super well to screen. You may have caused a reread now, however.

Congrats on making it yo your senior year! I hope it's still a great one given the circumstances. I hope you manage to find your way into that world of reality TV event planning. Maybe you'll be the one to plan a real life hunt for the egg.

  11. Hi Natalie,

You know, I feel like I know so many Hufflepuffs! I'm one too, and so are most of my friends. Maybe Hufflepuffs are more likely to fill out personality quizzes lol. I bet it's so cool to plan weddings! I'm sure it's stressful, but hopefully you get to have some fun with it! Have you ever encountered a bridezilla type of person? That might make for an interesting story!
Good luck on your senior year!

  12. Hi Natalie!

I love your cheery outlook on life and that you appreciate a good laugh! I think it is so interesting that you are a wedding planner! I wanted to do that for a long time, but ended up changing paths a little later down the road. I also love that your interests are so varied, and that you seem to have many goals set. This is so important, and I think it is great that you are always looking forward to something new. I am guilty of having missed the Harry Potter boat as a child so I can't relate with that fandom, but I understand the pain of the final GOT season. I don't think I'm emotionally ready to get into that again. I've enjoyed reading your introduction post and I look forward to reading your stories!

  13. Hi Natalie! That is awesome that you have found something that you are passionate about in event planning! Working for bachelor would be sick! Also I enjoyed reading about your interests; you have great taste! I really love Harry Potter as well--it's my all time favorite! I am glad I could learn a little more about you. I love reading, as well as Game of Thrones! Good luck this semester!

  14. Hi Natalie!

We actually talked a little about this class once during Event Planning together, but I loved to hear more about you! Believe it or not, I've also wanted to work behind the scenes on television! While it's not the Bachelor or Love Island, I've heavily considered doing public relations work with a show like Big Brother; I absolutely love that show. I'm also a DC fan! I haven't read any comics, but I love watching the DC Comic shows on the CW, like The Flash and Arrow. Who's your favorite superhero (Marvel or DC)? Loved getting to read more about you!

  15. Hi, Natalie! I can tell you've got a great sense of humor with how you rolled with the punches about your last name. Are there a lot of media opportunities in Oklahoma when it comes to planning, or would you have to move/look for work in other states? And where would you like to ideally move to? I'm also a Hufflepuff and I feel our house in underrated. First -- we have the comfiest common room Can you imagine being a Slytherin? Nothing against Slytherins. But that dungeon is such a downer. I'm more of a DC fan myself and I most collect the Batfamily (I recommend The Killing Joke, Hush, and The Court of Owls) but with Marvel I adore the X-men, Runaways, and Young Avengers if you haven't read those! Please shoot me some recs too.

  16. Hi Tink! I too love the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter! I am mostly a fan of the books, but will watch the movies if they are on t.v. My husband will make me turn off the t.v. when I start getting upset at the inaccuracies in the The Prisoner of Azkaban.

I think that being an event planner would be an exciting career! I like to plan small events for family and friends and will begin to get stressed as the date gets nearer and nearer, only to have an overwhelming sense of accomplishment when I see the fun that everyone is having when it all comes together in the end. I hope that you are able to work on some t.v. show in the future! It was nice to meet you!

  17. Hi Tink! We have so much in common. I am also the biggest nerd and love true crime (you should check out Wine and Crime or My Favorite Murder for more podcasts). I think it is so cool that you're a wedding planner! I have been secretly planning my wedding since I was six and have always loved the wedding world. Good luck on the rest of your semester!

  18. Hi Natalie! I love the awesome nickname, Tink seems to really fit the bubbly personality that shines through in your writing! After reading your intro and one of your story posts, I truly believe you could become a professional writer one day! I personally would love to read a bone-chilling mystery or science fiction story that you could come up with. Also, it's pretty awesome that you are a full time wedding planner and a student at the same time! That seems like a pretty awesome job, plus you seem to be balancing your school and work life very well. Anyways, it was nice meeting you and good luck with the rest of this semester!
